January 2012: Happy New Year to you! Barrie Thompson Garden Design is in the very early stages of designing a show garden for 2012. What's particularly exciting about this one is that it will be for a very worthy cause and hopefully rebuilt at a permanent site after the show. There's much to do before I can confirm anything but if you're a company wishing to be involved in sponsoring any aspect of a show garden which is for a very worth cause let me know and keep checking back to this page to find out where and who the garden is for. Sorry I can't tell you more, yet... ............................................................................................. 21st August 2011: Show's over!! Last day today and what a weekend it's been. I said at the beginning of the show the garden will be something you'll either love or hate (strong words but gets the point across). The feedback has been fantastic over the last four days. People are fascinated by the whole garden especially its planting scheme. Common words for the planting have been 'fluid', 'soothing', 'calming', 'tickly', 'sensory', 'fresh', and my favourite which was 'different'! I need to rest now. ............................................................................................. 18th August 2011: The judges verdict is in for the Vintage Garden at the Southport Flower Show 2011: LARGE GOLD!!! The garden was also awarded an extra trophy, 'Judges discretion for outside garden', which was nice as the garden wasn't allowed to be entered for Best in Show, Best in Category or the Peoples Choice - being the student garden it wasn't deemed fair to the other gardens... Thank you to everyone who helped in their own way.
